The Amaretto Sour is a smooth, sweet-and-tart cocktail that highlights the rich almond flavor of amaretto liqueur, balanced perfectly with bright citrus and a touch of complexity from optional bourbon or egg white. It’s a crowd-pleasing drink that’s both easy to make and hard to resist, offering a silky texture and a beautifully foamy top when shaken with egg white. Perfect for sipping at any occasion, from casual evenings to festive celebrations.

Ingredients (per serving):

  • 2 oz Amaretto liqueur
  • 1 oz Fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz Simple syrup (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 0.5 oz Bourbon (optional, for added depth)
  • 0.5 oz Egg white (optional, for a silky texture and foam)
  • Garnish: Lemon wheel, maraschino cherry, or orange twist

Instructions:

Dry shake (if using egg white):

In a shaker, combine:

  • 2 oz amaretto
  • 1 oz lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup
  • 0.5 oz bourbon (optional)
  • 0.5 oz egg white (optional)
    Shake vigorously without ice for about 15 seconds to create a nice foam.

Shake with ice:

Add ice to the shaker and shake again for another 10–15 seconds until well chilled.

Strain and serve:

Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice (or serve straight up in a coupe glass if you prefer no ice).

Garnish:

Add a lemon wheel, maraschino cherry, or orange twist for a bright and classic finish.
