Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition Review

Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition is the one with the beer in its past, and my Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition review has to say up front that it’s better than it sounds. It’s smooth, cocoa-led and very easy.
About Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition
It’s Jameson, made at Midleton by Irish Distillers (Pernod Ricard), and it’s a no-age-statement blend, bottled at 40%. The barrels were first used to mature a bourbon-style whiskey and then seasoned with craft stout from a brewery in Cork, which is the idea behind “Caskmates”.
It’s a clever bit of marketing that also works in the glass.
Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition tasting notes and first impressions
Cocoa, coffee and vanilla on the nose, with a bit of malt and some sweet oak. It’s warm and dessert-like.
On the palate it’s smooth and sweet, with milk chocolate, coffee, vanilla and a gentle spice. The finish is medium and soft, with a bit of roasted bitterness. It’s very easy, and it’s more interesting than the standard Jameson.
How to drink Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition
Neat, over ice or in an Irish coffee, where the cocoa and coffee notes work very well. It’s also decent with ginger ale. It makes a good winter drink.
Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition price: is it worth it?
About £24 for 70 cl. That’s a fair price for something that’s a bit different, and it’s the same as the standard bottle in most shops. It’s good value. A quick look at the retailer link on this page will tell you what Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition costs today.
