Irish Cream Hot Chocolate is what you make when someone has had a bad day and you want to fix it properly. This Irish Cream Hot Chocolate recipe is real hot chocolate with a glug of Irish cream and a splash of Irish whiskey on top.

It’s thick, sweet and indulgent, and it works as a dessert or a nightcap. It’s also a lot easier to make than it looks.

What does an Irish Cream Hot Chocolate taste like?

Rich, dark chocolate and creamy milk up front, with Irish cream sweetness and a gentle whiskey warmth. It’s thick, smooth and decadent.

Tips for a better Irish Cream Hot Chocolate

Don’t let the milk boil, or it will taste scorched.

Add the alcohol off the heat so it doesn’t evaporate.

Irish Cream Hot Chocolate variations

Use bourbon for a more caramel flavour. Add a pinch of chilli for a spiced version. For a whisky classic, try a Whisky Hot Chocolate, or a creamy coffee option in the Irish Coffee.

Best whisky for an Irish Cream Hot Chocolate

A smooth, sweet Irish whiskey works best, because chocolate is rich. Look for 40%.
