The Irish Cream White Russian is the White Russian’s richer, more Irish cousin. This Irish Cream White Russian recipe swaps the vodka for Irish whiskey and the cream for Irish cream, and it’s sweet, smooth and dangerously easy.

It’s a pudding in a rocks glass, and it works as a nightcap or a dessert. You can’t beat it on a cold evening.

What does an Irish Cream White Russian taste like?

Sweet coffee and creamy chocolate up front, with Irish whiskey honey and vanilla behind. It’s smooth, rich and indulgent, like a boozy iced mocha.

Tips for a better Irish Cream White Russian

Use a good coffee liqueur. It’s a big part of the flavour.

Stir gently at the table for a bit of theatre.

Irish Cream White Russian variations

Use bourbon for a bolder drink. Add a splash of cream for extra richness. For the standard version, make a Bourbon White Russian, or for a shaken version try the Irish Cream Espresso Martini.

Best whisky for an Irish Cream White Russian

A smooth, sweet Irish whiskey works best, because the drink is creamy. Look for 40%.
