Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select Review

Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select is the best of the core Jack range, and my Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select review is a rare enthusiastic one for this brand. It’s richer, stronger and much more characterful.
What is Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select?
It’s made by Brown-Forman in Lynchburg, Tennessee, bottled at 47% with no age statement, and each bottle comes from a single barrel, picked for its quality. It’s aged in new charred American oak and filtered through maple charcoal like all Jack Daniel’s.
It’s the premium end of the core range.
Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select tasting notes
Caramel, vanilla and banana on the nose, with some baking spice and a hint of toasted oak. It’s richer and deeper than Old No. 7.
On the palate it’s smooth and full-bodied, with caramel, vanilla, a little banana, cinnamon and oak. The finish is long, warm and gently spicy. It’s a very well-made whiskey, and it’s hard to fault.
The best way to drink Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select
Neat in a tulip glass works, with water added if the strength bites. It’s a good one for an Old Fashioned, though it’s almost too good for it. It’s a nice bottle to give.
How much is Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select, and is it worth it?
About £40 for 70 cl. That’s a fair price for a single barrel whiskey at 47%, and a clear step up from the standard Jack. It’s good value. Where to buy Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select: start with the retailer link on this page, then compare it with your usual shop.
